Buffalo Launch Club
Buffalo, N.Y. -- Races were held over the course of the Buffalo Launch Club at the Bedell House, on September 8, and were participated in by the combined fleet of both the Launch Club and the Motor Boat Club of Buffalo. There were two races, the prizes in each being given by Hon. O. P. Letchworth, of the Pratt & Letchworth Co. Summary:

On September 15th three races were held by the Buffalo Launch Club. The first event was for cabin boats, sixteen miles, up the river to the mouth of the Niagara, around the dummy light and return. The Gweogar, owned by Ellsworth Frick, of Buffalo, won first place, with Laura, owned by L. Lindenschmidt, of Buffalo, second. Time, 2:27:12.
Next came the 32-mile race for the handsome Herschell-Spillman trophy, which was won by the Whiz, owned by Levant R. Vandervoort, of North Tonawanda, in 1 h. 45 m. 44 s. The Dolphin, owned by Eugene de Kleist, of North Tonawanda, took second place in 1 h. 52 m. 46 s., and Frank Sidway's Arab II was third. The Niagara broke down fifteen minutes after starting and was unable to finish the race.
The third race of the day, which was run off while the 32-mile contest was on, was won by Sis, of Buffalo, with Scamp, of Buffalo, second, and Vingt Sept, of Buffalo, third.
