1909 Southampton Regatta
MARINE MOTORING
Some fine racing in Southampton Water was seen on Saturday, when the Motor Yacht Club held a race over about nine sea miles from the floating headquarters, the Enchantress, for the 6 ½ to 8 metres classes. Sir John Thornycroft’s new boat, Miranda III, proved herself to be the fastest boat of her size afloat. Gyrinus II was good second up to Dean’s lake Buoy, where she had the misfortune to break the bracket of her rudder, and second place went to Lucinha. The starting and finishing times were as follows:--
