A Fine Regatta at Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The motorboat feature of the regatta on the Potomac on September 18, under the direction of the Washington Post, attracted considerable attention, and furnished some interesting sport to the thousands who witnessed the races. The first event was for open boats , and the course eight nautical miles. It was won by Erd, owner E. J. Higgins, time 1 hour 5 minutes 15 seconds; second, Mae, owned by A. C. Hullings; third, Dolores, owner H. C. Lybrand. The next race was for hunting cabin and standing top boats, also over a course of eight nautical miles. First, Teaser, owner Frank Sanford, time 57 minutes; second, Amethyst, owner R. B. Benson; third, Reverie, owned by Frank Symonoskie. In the race for cabin boats, distance ten miles, Gregory, owner A. H. Gregory, finished first, time 1 hour 32 minutes 32 seconds; second, Atler, owner A. J. Marconnier; third, Margaret D, owner C. H. Duffy. The greatest interest centered in the semi-speed boat contest, which was won by Gray Bat, owner J. E. Battenfield, time, 1 hour 8 minutes 16 seconds, for the fifteen nautical miles; M. F. Robey’s Belmont was second, and J. J. Moore’s Tryto II, third.
