THE BOURNEMOUTH MEETING

The first day’s racing in the motor-boat meeting under the management of the Motor Yacht Club in connexion with the Centenary Fetes, was held at Bournemouth yesterday. The course, which was a triangular one, was between Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers. Racing will be continued to-day and to-morrow.

THE BOURNEMOUTH MEETING

The Bournemouth motor-boat regatta was continued yesterday in fine weather. The scratch race for boats exceeding 20 knots was altered so that Mrs. Edgar Thornton’s Columbine received two minutes allowance from Sir J. Thornycroft’s Miranda IV and Mr. D. Hanbury’s Zigarella, and on handicap Columbine had an easy win. The results were:--

In the contest for racing craft built within 40 miles of Bournemouth, no time allowance, distance 16 miles, Mrs. Edgar Thornton’s Columbine finished alone in 33min. 10sec., Mr. D. Hanbury’s Zigarella retiring in the third round. In the race for motor auxiliary cruisers, in which four miles had to be covered under power, four under sail, and four under both power and sail, Mr. Hind’s Fawn was the only boat to finish, her time being 2hr. 30min. 3sec.
