1937 Gold Cup thumbnailSingle step hydroplanes at the start of the 1937 Gold Cup Race on the Detroit River. Miss Cincinatti, Jr., foreground, went 51.744 mph in one heat. She used a three-cylinder engine from a World War I French Spad fighter.

Clell Perry, driving Herb Mendelson's Notre Dame was the eventual winner.
