Hurricane IV apparently was only at the race to make a mile trial which she did at 139 m.p.h. using a propeller from the Slo-mo-shun IV. However she was about 40 m.p.h. slower than the Slo-mo. Henry Kaiser's Gold Cup boats were sabotaged prior to the start and therefore declined to race.
