Miss Supertest was allowed to start the second heat even though she was not qualified—the referee agreeing to accept her first competition lap for qualification. Unfortunately she did not last the first lap. Little Miss Judy also failed to qualify.

Gale II and Such Crust IV were unable to start the first heat due to repairs to their bottoms. Such Crust IV made it out for the second heat, but failed to cross the starting line as her engine exploded just short of it. Roy Duby had replaced Bill Cantrell.
