Gale Blows Race Thriftway Wins
|
Willard Rhodes unexpectedly entered Miss Thriftway in the Detroit Memorial Trophy Race, June 14. Driver Bill Muncey, nursing a sick engine around the course, brought the Seattle boat home a winner. Driver Lee Schoenith made a costly mistake when he jumped the gun with his Gale VI in the final heat; Muncey limped home ahead behind him. The Detroit boat had to take an extra lap.
