1964 Harrahs Tahoe Regatta
Miss Bardahl Wins at Lake Tahoe
|
Three up, three down and three won is the story of Miss Bardahl, the Green Dragon, which has won the Tahoe Regatta for the third straight year of its history. Ron Musson drove Bardahl, the boat that has brought as much fame to Seattles Ole Bardahl as his renowned oil has the money it takes to campaign her. Musson was out of the cockpit one year with an injury.
Sixteen of the nations top hydros were on hand for this one. The Tahoe affair now takes its place with the other classic events and gives California two on the expanding racing circuit now that San Diego has shown what it can do for racing.
Tahoe Miss, Harrahs own boat driven by Chuck Thompson, was closely watched in this one following her great showing at Seattle Seafair. However, to the disappointment of Tahoe fans, the craft wasnt running well and did not start the final heat. Following Bardahl, in the finals, were Miss Budweiser, Gale V, $ Bill, and Notre Dame.
