1986 Silver Cup
Las Vegas NV, September 28-29, 1986

Las Vegas — The end to a weather delayed final heat which was run on Monday brought about the most controversial finish to a season since the Houston World Championship in 1983. In the end the Miss Budweiser had the race and the season point championship in hand. Both other turbine teams were pointing accusing fingers at the new champions as they claimed Jim Kropfeld cut off everyone going into the first corner of the final heat. Of course, the would-be protesters came up short as you cannot protest a non call nor can you protest a judgment call, even if it is bad judgment. I'm not saying it was a bad call, just that protests against judgment calls never are overturned.
