Tri-Cities, WA, August 4, 2000 — Mark Evans in the Miss E-Lam Plus won the fifth race of the Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Series at the Budweiser Columbia Cup with Wings. Evans also won two preliminary heats and outran the competition for the first career victory for the Miss E-Lam Plus.
Evans victory ended the ten-race win streak that Miss Budweiser driver Dave Villwock had over the last two seasons. Villwock was the top qualifier in the field but had to withdraw from the race after suffering damage to the right sponson in the second preliminary heat.
George Stratton in the U-5 "Lowrey's Beef Jerky presents Appian Jeronimo" finished second and Nate Brown in the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto Beef Jerky finished third.
