At New Martinsville, the unlimited ranks were represented by Miss Pepsi, Miss Great Lakes II and Daniel J. Murphy's Dee Jay V, driven by Dan Murphy Jr [Murphy was the owner; Norman Lauterbach, the driver --LF]. The latter came out the winner, on the narrow Ohio River course, when the Pepsi couldn't finish and the Great Lakes was unable to even start.
